Firewood FAQs

Answers to the questions we are asked most often about our firewood, delivery, and getting the best from your logs.

What is the difference between kiln dried and seasoned logs?

Kiln dried logs are dried in a kiln to a consistent moisture content of around 15% and are ready to burn immediately. Seasoned logs are air-dried outdoors over many months. We sell kiln dried logs, and part-seasoned logs for you to finish drying at home.

What does “Ready to Burn” mean?

Ready to Burn is a certification, backed by Woodsure, confirming that firewood has a moisture content of 20% or below. In England it is required for wood sold in volumes under 2 cubic metres. Dry wood burns more cleanly, gives more heat, and protects your stove and chimney.

Are your logs Ready to Burn certified?

Yes. All of our kiln dried firewood is Ready to Burn, at 20% moisture or below.

What wood do you use?

Locally sourced British hardwood — a mix that includes ash, beech, oak and cherry. Our part-seasoned logs are predominantly ash, and our kindling is British softwood.

How much is a bulk bag of logs?

A bulk bag (roughly 80cm by 80cm by 80cm) of our kiln dried logs is currently £145, with free delivery in our local area. Please see the shop for the latest prices.

Do you deliver to my area?

We deliver across west Kent, including Edenbridge, Oxted, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks and Westerham, and the surrounding villages. Please contact us to check delivery to your address.

How should I store my logs?

Keep them under cover and off the ground, with air circulating around them — not sealed under a tarpaulin. Stored well, kiln dried logs stay ready to burn.

Is there a minimum order?

Most products have no minimum. Some, such as our nets and our part-seasoned bulk bags, do have a minimum order, which is shown on the product page.
